Let me start out by saying – Thank you Jesus!!!

We were travelling to visit my mom and had reserved a rental car to make the trip to California. Since making the reservation we purchased a new vehicle we affectionately called “Super Jeep”. We made it 30 miles before McDermott and that was the end of our trip – but only the beginning of a crazy adventure.

It started snowing sleeting (which scares me anyway) so Sean slowed down to a safe speed. He’s a slow driver anyway which now I am particularly thankful for now Smile Up ahead we saw a car coming our direction who lost control. Boom. The scariest part was not being able to get to CC because all I could see back there was blood. So so scary. I couldn’t get my seatbelt off either. Finally Dad was able to get out of the car and get to CC. I remember telling him to not just unbuckle her from her car seat, because I didn’t want her falling on her head. Het got her safe and all the while I was terrified that another car was going to come along and hit us before we could make our exit. Someone opened one of the doors for us and helped me out of my seat belt, I think it was the guy that hit us, but everything is a little fuzzy.

Once out of the car it was so cold, wet and snowy. So many cars stopped to help. I think at one point there was like 7 or 8 cars out there with people trying to stop traffic for us in both directions. they didn’t even know us and there they were out in the cold, getting wet and freezing to help. I don’t think one single car passed without asking if everyone was okay. I am seriously touched by the outpouring of support from people. People gave us blankets out of their car and umbrellas, so very nice. One family stopped to let CC and I sit in the car with them and get warm (oddly enough their car was full of Disney stuff just like ours). CC’s arm was bleeding pretty good, which freaked her out all the more. CC and I just sat there getting warm in the car and prayed to God, thanking Him.

The ambulance didn’t show up for an hour and forty minutes after the accident and I later learned that they are all volunteers. The police cam from Ontario and it took them three hours to show up. We headed to a B&B (and I use that term loosely, but thankful for a warm place to sleep) and the lady there made CC and cheese sandwich and some soup even though the kitchen was already closed.

We went to the ER the next day to get checked out and have CC’s arm cleaned up. Turns out we should have gotten stiches for her, but you have to get stiches within 8 hours of the injury otherwise it is too late. The doctor said she’ll have a nasty scar, but so so thankful that was the worst of it. Dad and I are a little gimpy today, but hope to feel better in a couple of days.

At the hospital, the nurses doted on CC. She got a popsicle, a bear, and an entire ROLL of princess stickers. Oh my…

We praise you Lord for watching over us! My heart is so full of thanks for our safety, the passer-bys on the road, the volunteer workers, a room at the B&B, and our friends who rescued us the next day. So very much to be thankful for every single day!!!. We Praise You Lord!
