We got up that morning and headed out for a little shopping before Surreal's party. At 10:30 we got a call from David in a panic. Toby (their dog) had bitten Marlene and turned mean, even toward David, when he tried to stop him. David was also experiencing chest pains which really concerned me. We headed over to their place to pick them up and to take them to the ER. Once we got to the ER they took them in right away. Poor Marlene, her hand was wrapped up in a towel and David could barely walk. Honestly, I was more worried about David, but once we got the hospital, he calmed down and his heart was okay.
The three of us (me, dad, and CC) sat in the ER for about three hours while CC flirted with the Security Officer and the nice lady working there gave her a stuffed bear. They did x-rays on Marlene and found that nothing was broken, thankfully. She ended up getting six stitches and is still in a lot of pain. We took them back to their place and then David and Dad left to take Toby to the doctor to have him put to sleep. This was heartbreaking for everyone, but David is taking it the hardest. They love that dog so much. I remember how hard it was losing my dogs so I can only imagine what they must be going through.
Then Dad and I headed home for a quick shower and off to the Melodrama. We rushed CC off to her "future boyfriend's" house. She had so much fun playing with everyone. With all the new toys and attention she had a WONDERFUL TIME. Thank you to Kris and Jeff for taking such awesome care of our "muffin".
Also, Happy Birthday to Surreal (I'm sorry we missed the party). And to Toby, who was loved like a child, we will miss you. Lastly, our prayers to David and Marlene to get through this difficult time.
